Netmarble has announced that its idle RPG, THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK, is set to launch globally on both Android and iOS on September 4. Originally revealed in September at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, the game launched early access phase 2 in May 2025 in Canada, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK is an idle RPG with character-collecting and retro, pixel-art style visuals. Here, you can take part in 5v5 team battles with original fighters, boost your fighters’ Combat Power with a single tap, and aim to become the strongest in the world.
Developed by Netmarble Neo, you can look forward to collecting all the core fighters from the KOF series, like Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Nikaido Benimaru, Shermie, Mature, and a lot more. I also like how the battle situation changes depending on team combination and placement.
While it would have been nice if it weren’t idle, the game still looks fun, offering a dot graphic style retro flair, infinite growth, 5v5 fights, villains, a unique combat system that is not present in other KOF titles, and more, and more.
The King of Fighters AFK is scheduled to launch globally on both Android and iOS on September 4. You can now pre-register for the game via your respective Google Play Store or App Store. By pre-registering, you can obtain 3,000 free draws, Vice, Iori, and Leona.
