Niantic has announced a major update for Pokémon GO that will rebalance the entire leveling experience, making the journey more rewarding and engaging. Set to roll out on October 15, the update will raise the level cap from 50 to 80. It will introduce new milestones, rewards, and a smoother leveling.
Leveling-up in Pokémon GO gets a fresh upgrade with exciting rewards and more
Pokémon GO is now gearing up for a new update, designed to celebrate milestones with exciting cosmetics, storage upgrades, and exclusive rewards. Even better, some of you’ll notice your level automatically increase based on total earned XP, though no one will lose their current levels.
From October 15, Level-Up Research tasks will be removed for levels 41 to 50, with new research challenges added between levels 71 and 80. If you’ve reached level 70 or higher, you’ve an increased chance of becoming Lucky Friends with others.
You can also look forward to new level-up progression rewards, including extra storage for Pokémon, items, and Gifts, along with new avatar items starting at level 25. Plus, some of you’ll even receive rewards associated with the levels you jump to based on previously earned experience.
Claim legacy rewards before October 15 and enjoy massive XP bonuses
You’ll receive a special medal commemorating your highest level, along with exclusive items like glasses, poses, boots, hats, and the special Level 50 Jacket, from level 1 to 50. That said, these legacy items won’t be available after October 15.
The good news is that an XP Celebration event is now live until October 14, offering you bonuses, like 2x Catch XP from Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, 3,000+ XP from winning raids, and 3,000+ XP from winning Max Battles, which will also stack with other event bonuses.
Moreover, a special Timed Research will also be available for everyone who’s level 5 and above, giving you the chance to earn over 7 million XP. The game is also adjusting a level 47 Level-Up Research task, which required exploring 25km in a week eight times, will now only need to be completed twice.
