- Review bombing hits Steam and mobile stores as criticism over reward differences and unfair treatment spreads.
- Global players are outraged after a livestream confirms new characters won’t be added to the standard banner for six months.
- Developers respond with a vague promise to address feedback, but fans say the latest stream only made things worse.
As someone genuinely excited about Persona 5: The Phantom X coming to global, this whole situation has been super disappointing. What started as a solid and stylish mobile Persona game has now turned into a mess of controversy and frustration. Persona 5: The Phantom X faces more criticism as the recent livestream announces that new characters won’t be added to the standard banner right after their limited run ends; instead, we’ll have to wait a full six months.
In other regional versions like China, non-limited characters are added to the standard pool right after their banner ends. But in the global version, they’ve just confirmed that new characters will not be added to the standard banner immediately after their limited banners end. Instead, we’re looking at a six-month delay.
The Community Backlash is getting loud and is justified
I’m not the only one upset. The entire community is basically in flames. Reddit, X (Twitter), and even the EN livestream’s comment section. It’s not just about waiting longer; it’s about the principle. Other servers got these characters right away. Why are global players treated like second-class citizens?
One Reddit user, unhappysapp, pointed out that the announcement for Marian’s delay came when her banner had just 12 hours left. So if you didn’t pull her during that short window? Too bad. You now wait six months. That’s incredibly scummy. It’s also worth noting that we received zero proper communication ahead of time, no warnings, no compensation, just silence.
I hate to say it, but this game might be dying, and fast. Another user, Hatarakumaou, mentioned that the CN/TW/KR versions of P5X aren’t doing well financially, and that maybe SEGA is trying to milk the global player base one last time before shutting everything down. Some users even call it a “planned cash grab.”
The Review Bombing across app stores continues on
Just a month ago, Persona 5: The Phantom X was sitting pretty with “Mostly Positive” reviews on the App Store and Steam. Now, it’s dropped to Mixed. The reason? “Global players are being treated like trash.” That’s what recent reviews are saying throughout.
The global version is also falling behind in rewards. While CN players received up to 600 Meta Jewels after maintenance thanks to codes and login bonuses, us Global players got only 100 Meta Jewels.

The gap in generosity is insulting, especially when the devs are pushing updates faster to “catch up” with the CN version. How are we supposed to pull for all these characters if the game doesn’t give us the resources to do so?
Final Thoughts
As a global player, it hurts to see a game I was so excited for go down this path. I was hoping Persona 5: The Phantom X global would be a gateway for new fans to discover the Persona series. Instead, it’s become a giant red flag. The community is angry for good reason, and unless Sega changes course, this game is heading straight for an early grave.
