Avex Pictures has announced Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey, the first-ever mobile game based on the critically acclaimed manga and anime series, Made in Abyss. This upcoming casual title is currently in development by Nobollel Inc.

Made in Abyss, the beloved dark fantasy series, is finally coming to mobile as Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey, which will be a casual title. Officially announced via X (formerly known as Twitter), the game is currently in development, although not much detail was revealed.
If you are not familiar with Made in Abyss, it was created in 2012 by Akihito Tsukushi. The anime adaptation was aired in 2017, which quickly gained good reviews and a loyal fan base, including me. The plot follows Riko, an orphan girl, and Reg, a part-robot boy, as they descend into the mysterious Abyss in search of her mother.
While we don’t have enough information about gameplay or its features yet, I am expecting a lot from it, and for good reasons. The series is praised for its impressive world-building, storyline, and characters, even getting spots in both Crunchyroll and IGN’s top best anime of the 2010s.

Moreover, with season 3 announced back in January 2023, I am expecting the game to launch around the same time, to ride on each other’s hype. There’s already a PC and console title, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, a 3D action RPG, that received mostly positive reviews on Steam.
As a big fan of the series, I am genuinely happy about this announcement, and excited about the upcoming mobile version, and I hope it can replicate the same emotional depth, storytelling, captivating yet gore/dark visuals, and also the amazing cast of characters like Nanachi, Jiruo, Torka, and more.
I also discovered an inactive title on Sensor Tower called Made in Abyss Roguelite RPG, reportedly developed by Avex Pictures Inc. This one looks like a card-based RPG where you can collect original illustrated cards, equip relics, battle creatures from the series, and more, though it’s unclear if it is connected to this new title.
