Studio Sirah, creator of Kurukshetra: Ascension, has launched their new strategy title, Kalpa: Mythic Hero Defense, now available in early access on Android. Earlier, the studio raised $830k in seed funding and $2.6M in Pre-Series A. There is no information for an iOS launch yet.
Protect the spirit tree of creation from the waves of demonic Asuras
Kalpa: Mythic Hero Defense is the latest tower defense strategy title from the Indian indie studio, following the success of their debut flagship title, Kurukshetra: Ascension. This time, you have to battle waves of Asuras by summoning legendary heroes to protect the sacred world tree, Kalpa.
I like how beautifully the game blends ancient Indian mythology with fun, modern strategic gameplay. Moreover, if you are into Indian mythology, you are in for a treat, as you can command iconic warriors like Bali, Sugriva, and Arjuna, each with unique skills, inspired by timeless epics and lore.
Choose Boons, unlock new powers, and equip magical items
Not only that, you can also choose powerful Boons to strengthen Kalpa, upgrade your heroes, and even equip magical items to clear relentless enemy waves. Gameplay-wise, it is quite straightforward, letting you position your heroes, time your powerful ultimates, and defend the tree of creation.
Given the fact that this comes from the same studio behind Kurukshetra: Ascension, which won Google Play Store Best Indie Game 2023, we can expect a lot more, and so far, it doesn’t disappoint. I also love the stunning visuals and art style, although I wish it weren’t in portrait mode.
