Genshin Impact Version 5.8 Phase 1 Character Banners: Should you go for Ineffa or Citlali

So is Ineffa your pick?

Story Highlights
  • Ineffa brings a brand-new reaction mechanic, Lunar Charge, making her a strong off-field Electro support for taser-style teams.
  • Citlali offers valuable Cryo utility and smoother rotations but shines mostly in melt teams with specific DPS setups.
  • Ineffa is the recommended pull for most players, with future synergy potential and better overall team flexibility.

Genshin Impact Version 5.8 Phase 1 banners will go live from July 30th, 2025, till August 19th, 2025. The Phase 1 banners will feature one new playable character and one re-run character in a dual banner.

We will assess each character’s strengths and qualities in the future meta of the game and advise on who you should prefer to pull from the two playable characters.

Who should you go for between Ineffa or Citlali in Genshin Impact Version 5.8 Phase 1

Genshin Impact Phase 1 banners feature Ineffa and Citlali in Version 5.8, and it’s hard to decide who to pull. It depends on your team’s needs and your priorities for future content. Each character brings unique strengths to the table, but some offer more immediate and long-term value than others. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide.

1. Ineffa

Ineffa is a strong off-field Electro 5-Star who introduces the new Lunar Charge reaction. She functions similarly to Electro-Charged but with unique scaling and crit potential. She’s best used in taser-style teams (Electro + Hydro), where she serves as both a reaction enabler and a significant damage source.

Her kit is designed around amplifying reaction damage, offering a decent shield, and buffing EM for the team. She is worth pulling if you have or want to build taser teams or plan to future-proof for Fontaine and beyond. Ineffa is not quite on the same power tier as other top-tier support, but she’s uniquely impactful in teams that need both EM support and Electro application.

Her true long-term value depends on the future characters’ release. If you’re looking for immediate value or simply to boost underwhelming Electro/Hydro units, Ineffa is already a very solid pick.

2. Citlali

Citlali is a 5-Star Cryo support with strong utility and quality-of-life perks. While she doesn’t drastically increase the raw damage of her teams, she makes rotations smoother, eases energy generation, and provides consistent Cryo application in melt teams.

Her teamwide value is modest, but her ease-of-use and flexibility make her appealing to players who want comfort over raw numbers. She isn’t a must-have character if you’re already invested in other melt carries or Cryo units that benefit from her application style.

Her value drops significantly if you don’t own or plan to build around those units. For new players or those without dedicated melt cores, her utility won’t be fully realized.

Final Thoughts

Between the two, Infa is the stronger and more future-proof pull, especially if you enjoy reaction-heavy teams or want to prep for upcoming Lunar Charge units like Flynn. She brings solid off-field Electro damage, EM support, and a flexible kit that already slots well into popular taser comps.

Citlali, while useful in melt or Cryo-focused teams, offers more quality-of-life than raw power and doesn’t synergize with the current banner lineup. Unless you’re already building around specific Cryo or Pyro units that benefit from her utility, Infa is the clear pick for most players, both for current teams and upcoming meta shifts.
