GamingonPhone celebrates its 6th birthday: A joyful ride through milestones, memories, and a massive year ahead

It’s celebration time! GamingonPhone is officially six years old, and what a journey it has been. From humble beginnings to becoming one of the most trusted platforms for everything mobile gaming, the past year in particular has been nothing short of incredible.

Hard to believe I was just a confused engineering student when I was invited into the GamingonPhone side of things. Six years later, here I am writing this anniversary piece for GamingonPhone; the only major differences are a much thicker beard and an even deeper obsession with mobile games. Time does fly.

A year packed with milestones

Let me start with a proud flex: I should say 2024 and early 2025 were full of exciting achievements. We hosted the second edition of the GamingonPhone Conference (GPC) Online in September 2024, gathering developers, publishers, and decision-makers from all over the world.

The 2nd edition featured over 300 attendees, representing more than 200 companies and showcasing insights from over 45 speakers.

To add to the excitement, we earned our second consecutive nomination for “Coverage Platform of the Year” at the Mobile Gaming Awards (Mobies). Closing the year, the GamingonPhone Awards 2024 also turned out to be our biggest one yet.

With 15 million+ impressions, over 550,000 votes, and 30 categories filled with the best and brightest in mobile gaming. GamingonPhone Awards 2024 was a true celebration of creativity, and it showed just how passionate the global gaming community really is.

Expanding the GamingonPhone universe

One of our proudest additions this year was the launch of GamingonPhoneBiz.com in February 2025, a platform focused entirely on the business side of Mobile Gaming. As the industry keeps growing into a billion-dollar powerhouse, we felt it was time to give the business stories their spotlight.

And then came GPC 2025, our third conference edition held on May 27th, and it was bigger than ever! GPC Online 2025 (3rd edition) puts special focus on China, Japan, and South Korea. The event had 500+ attendees, 200+ companies, and 45+ incredible speakers.

A big, ambitious leap

Now here’s the showstopper: the GamingonPhone Awards 2025 is going offline and going global! For the first time ever, this year’s celebration will be held in person alongside the online event in the vibrant city of Bangkok, Thailand.

Yes, after four epic online editions, we’re finally gathering developers, fans, and industry leaders under one roof. With nominations now open, this fifth edition is gearing up to be the most memorable yet, and our ambitious one, too.

Looking ahead with joy, hope, and some caffeine

Six years in, we still feel like we’re just getting started. What keeps us going is the amazing support from our readers, partners, and the mobile games community that keeps evolving and surprising us.

We’re an ambitious group of people working hard to keep mobile games media alive. Every story, article, news piece, or editorial we publish comes from a place of curiosity and dedication, learning something new, sharing something valuable, and growing with every word.

That said, it’s also important to acknowledge the tougher side of this industry. The gaming world has seen a lot of employee layoffs this year, and many talented people are going through difficult times, as we are also looking at some big games shutting down.

I won’t pretend everything has been smooth; this journey hasn’t exactly been knife-through-butter easy. But we’ve come this far. Maybe the bumps and hurdles along the way are exactly what shape us into something better.
