- March of Empires is a medieval real-time strategy MMO that launched on August 13, 2015, and gained moderate popularity.
- March of Empires: Time of War offers a quick, strategic kingdom-building and warfare experience for 2 to 4 players in just over 30 minutes.
Gameloft has announced that March of Empires is getting a tabletop version, titled March of Empires: Time of War, with a brand-new Kickstarter campaign. It is being developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged, known for popular video game-to-board adaptations like Frostpunk: The Board Game, Apex Legends: The Board Game, and more.
Get ready for a tabletop race to conquer in March of Empires: Time of War
March of Empires: Time of War promises a fast-paced strategic experience on kingdom building and warfare, all in just over 30 minutes of play. Designed for 2 to 4 players, it is easy to learn while delivering enough depth, and can be appealing to both new and seasoned tabletop players.
For those unfamiliar with March of Empires, it is a medieval real-time strategy MMO where you can choose a faction, build your kingdom, clash with barbarians, and conquer territories to reshape the balance of power. The game thrives on tactical warfare, global alliances, territorial domination, and more.
With such a beloved material, I’m excited for this upcoming tabletop version. Plus, one of its most interesting features is the unique hourglass-based mechanic, with timers playing a central role as a core part of the gameplay, adding real-time pressure to your every decision.
Explore factions, champions, timed tactics, and more
Even in this tabletop game, you will choose from different factions, each with unique abilities and a mighty Champion to lead your forces. The challenge lies in balancing your economy, preparing for war, and making the most of your limited time.
It aims to capture the same intensity and excitement of the MMO in a physical format. Whether you aim to complete scenario goals or storm an enemy castle, I’m sure it will be very fun. If you’re intrigued, just like me, you can follow the project via Kickstarter ‘Notify Me’ page for updates.
