eFootball 2026 is less than a month away, and the v5.0.0 update is all set to arrive in mid-August 2025. Yes, there will be a few days when we can’t play our favourite game due to maintenance, but there are some new features coming that could be worth the wait. Before jumping into the expectations, let us see what things are arriving.
New Feature: Link-Up Play
This sounds like Team Spirit from the PES days, but mostly I view it as a Chemistry feature from the EA FC series. From what they have explained, this is a new ability for a Manager, which allows a special combination of players to enhance their performance in the game.
The two players must meet certain conditions to trigger this in the game. With this, the options for choosing managers will expand, as the combinations of players that will work together will also play a major role in it.
New Feature: Treasure Link
Here’s another feature that is introduced to the game. So this is not in-match related, but instead a new way of rewarding. This system allows you to get more rewards as you progress through the game. This revamped system would be your achievement screen from the 2026 edition.
You can notice that the format is bingo, so once you complete a line here, you will get to unlock more special rewards. It works vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Completing the bingo might bring even bigger rewards.
What makes this even more interesting is that there’s a treasure link system between players as well. You can share each other’s treasure links by battling with each other, or you can share rewards that vary from each other. More matches bring more rewards.
The Borussia Dortmund Experience
After KONAMI confirmed the ending of FC Bayern München’s license on June 30, 2025, the rumors about Borussia Dortmund coming back to the game increased. Well, that has been confirmed by the company as well.
The reveal of the stadium, the players, and special packs has been announced, and although this will arrive on July 24, 2025, we can consider this to be part of the new season.
What else to expect
For now, nothing regarding gameplay has been announced by the makers yet. Also, the next update is reportedly getting a new pack opening animation, so that’s something. Master League is a space that many players have doubts about, but I’m not too sure if it will come; most likely, the answer is no.
