eFootball 2026 is set to launch sometime between August and September this 2025

New update!

Story Highlights
  • The major v5.0.0 eFootball Season Update is confirmed to arrive between August and September 2025
  • With a big v4.0.0 update, eFootball 2025 also saw many improvements this year.

As anticipation builds for the release of eFootball 2026, KONAMI has officially announced that the upcoming major Season Update v5.0.0 is scheduled to launch sometime between August and September 2025.

The last big update brought in a majority of new features to eFootball

The last major update, v4.0.0, arrived in September 2024 and brought some interesting changes that refreshed the game. It featured a brand new colourful UI, added weather options to matches, and introduced Double Boosts to player cards.

Over the season, we did see several improvements, be it the addition of stadiums with the 4.2.0 update, new Show Time skills, which I still think many didn’t want, new Epic Cards, AI Mode eFootball League, Targeted Skill Training, and more.

The version update will also see a data cleanup for inactive accounts. According to the notice, any save data that has remained untouched for over six months, especially from users who haven’t logged in or played a single match, will be considered for deletion.

So, what’s this year? What is going to arrive? Let me once again sell you the stuff of dreams, the Master League. Seems like KONAMI has forgotten about it. What was supposed to be. Well, other than this, I’m not too sure how to collect my thoughts on this, but gameplay improvements are much needed.

At the time of writing, only the launch period of eFootball 2026 has been specified. No date is given, so keep an eye on this space for updates.

I love the game personally, my only criticism of it is when right after losing the ball, the player just stands still and there’s no button you can press to make them do anything. Albeit, that animation lasts only a second but it’s a game of small margins. When have you ever seen a player doing that in real life? That’s the only thing that really frustrates me.
