NetEase Games announced a closed beta test (CBT) for their sci-fi RPG shooter, Destiny: Rising, on Android in the US and Canada starting May 29. First announced in October 2024, it held its first alpha test in November 2024 in those regions, and is now available for global pre-registration on iOS.
Get ready to dive into a new adventure in an alternate timeline
In case you’re unaware, Destiny: Rising is the first mobile title in Bungie’s iconic Destiny franchise. Set in an alternate Destiny timeline, you can play as unique characters and embark on a new adventure to protect Earth and reclaim humanity’s future.
You’ll see some familiar faces from the Destiny universe along with new ones, each with their lore and skills. As someone who’s spent quite some time with Destiny and Destiny 2, I’m hyped for this one, especially the addition of classic campaign missions, 6-player Strikes, and new PvE and PvP modes.
The game made its proper debut at the NetEase Games 520 Online Conference 2025 on May 20, coming a long way from when many fans were just speculating about a mobile title, since Bungie’s official job listings hinted at a mobile title back in September 2021.
How to apply for the upcoming Destiny: Rising closed beta test
The good news is that the game is kicking off a closed beta test on Android on May 29, in the US and Canada. This test is packed with features, including an expanded storyline, new characters, missions, Strike maps, Master difficulty, various casual activities, and even hidden secrets.
The recruitment for the test is now live, and you can apply for it by following these steps:
- First, visit their official website.
- There, tap on Pre-register Now.
- Choose Android and your region.
- Then, enter your Gmail linked to your Google Play Account.
- Check the box, then hit Pre-register.
- Now, complete the recruitment survey, and you’re done.
- You can also RT + follow this post on X (Twitter) to increase your chances.
I’m a bit jealous as I won’t get to take part in this test, missing my chance to meet Xuan Wei and Umeko and dive into new missions and Strike maps. However, I’m happy as the global pre-registration for iOS is now live. You can pre-order via the App Store, with pre-registration milestone rewards up for grabs.
