With the launch of Season 5, Primal Reckoning, on May 28, 2025, the Secret Caches in COD Mobile are getting a full update, including a new type of shard system and fresh rewards. If you’re wondering what’s changing, I’ll explain everything you need to know.
The AK47 – ICB Rifle will be the new Legendary Secret Cache reward
Secret Caches will be updated a day after, on the 29th of May, 2025. One of the biggest changes is the introduction of Universal Shards. If you already own certain weapons, any extra shards for them will now be converted into these new shards instead of tokens.
These Universal Shards are grouped into three types, Mythic, Major Legendary, and Minor Legendary, each usable to get different weapon rarities. You can also convert extra shards with a single tap in your inventory after the update.
Another highlight is the addition of the new AK47 – ICB Rifle, which replaces the Stun Baton – Surge Baton fragments as the new legendary reward in Secret Caches. You’ll receive Universal Shards via in-game mail depending on how many extra shards you already had before the update.
Also, Challenge Tokens will now have an expiration date, so make sure to redeem them on time. The reward distribution may take 5 to 7 working days, so keep an eye on your mailbox.
Meanwhile, Season 5 of COD Mobile, titled Primal Reckoning, introduces the new Multiplayer map Zoo and adds Buy Machines in Battle Royale. There’s also a themed collaboration event with NieR: Automata. Make sure to check all the details before the season goes live.
