Supercell’s popular title, Brawl Stars, officially reveals its new logo, which will arrive with the next update in early September. The team explained that the old logo had begun to feel dated and overly complex compared to other modern titles and needed a change to better express the Brawl identity.
Why a logo refresh became necessary for Brawl Stars
The devs revealed that the old design didn’t properly reflect the essence of the brand. They noted that ” Brawl is the core of the brand and the most recognizable part of the game name,” but in the current logo, “the first thing you see is actually Stars due to the dominant color and font size.“
They also shared that the logo’s complexity posed challenges, explaining, “The old logo contained a lot of different elements all put together, making it hard to read in different contexts and sizes.” This made it less adaptable for things like ads, merch, collaboration, and more.
Another factor was its dated appearance compared to other modern gaming brands, as they described, “competing for attention in the logo world is tough, and the old logo design was starting to lag behind.” The contrast with the app icon, where the skull played a major role, adds to the inconsistency.
How the new logo addresses these issues while keeping the legacy alive
While many fans are not happy with this new logo, it is designed to solve these challenges without discarding the legacy of Brawl Stars. The team stated, “we didn’t want to make a change that would throw away the legacy that the old logo represented,” as this is not a rebrand but rather an update.
During the design phase, several versions were tested, ranging from minor tweaks to bold redesigns.” The devs shared that the “new logo came out as the best performing and received the most positive feedback from the test user groups.” In fact, some even assumed it was the official one for how well it aligned with the app logo.

Before finalizing the update, the team also made some small adjustments to the winning design, while making sure the logo’s core identity remained intact, with “the skull element, colors, and font style remaining fairly similar.” That said, I personally like the old, current logo more than this new one.
