- Age of Empires: Survival is a new medieval 4X strategy game that mixes deep tactics with hypercasual gate-based combat.
- The game features diverse civilizations, heroes, global alliances, dynamic terrain, weather changes, and more.
- There’s currently no information about an iOS release or a global launch.
Level Infinite, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, has announced the soft launch of their hypercasual survival strategy title, Age of Empires: Survival, now available on Android in the United States and Puerto Rico.
This is not the first time Tencent Games has launched a mobile game based on the superhit AOE franchise. The company previously released Age of Empires Mobile, a 4x strategy title, and now this, a hypercasual spin.
Build, battle, and survive in a medieval world
Age of Empires: Survival combines strategy with hypercasual gate mechanics, where you face enemy waves using multipliers and upgrades.

You can choose from 8 civilizations and recruit over 40 legendary heroes to lead your empire. Moreover, you can even craft powerful weapons and make crucial decisions that shape your empire’s fate. The gameplay is fairly simple: you can move, dodge, shoot, and fight.
AoE Survival offers a trending yet disappointing take on the series
As someone who has played a lot of Age of Empires titles, I’m curious to see how this new take performs. Here, you start with a small village and expand your empire through gathering, building, and managing resources.
However, as an Age of Empires fan, it’s disheartening to see the IP getting a treatment like this when there could have been a much better game AAA-quality game. I’m not even talking about the existing AOE Mobile title.
Overall, the game shows promise and could follow the success of titles like Last War: Survival and Frozen War, thanks to its variety of civilizations, heroes, real-time mechanics, global alliances, dynamic terrain, weather changes, and more.
Age of Empires: Survival is now available in soft launch on Android in the United States and Puerto Rico. You can now download the game via your Google Play Store. That said, there’s currently no announcement regarding an iOS or global launch.
