Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is FDG Entertainment’s indie dungeon crawler RPG. If you’re looking to bring some friends along for your dungeon-crawling adventure, Chronos Dungeon offers a fun local multiplayer mode! In this Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon Multiplayer guide, I’ll help you to play the game with your friends in co-op mode!
Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon is a retro-style, top-down dungeon crawler that takes place a couple of hundred years after Oceanhorn 2. But unlike the main games in the series, this one goes full rogue-lite mode. That means randomized levels, permadeath runs, lots of loot, and plenty of chaos. Check our detailed beginners’ guide and redeem codes article to get a kickstart in the game.
How to play the local Multiplayer mode in Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon
Multiplayer Basics: One Device, Multiple Players

Multiplayer in Chronos Dungeon is local-only, meaning everyone plays on a single device (like an iPad or Apple TV). Unfortunately, you can’t play with friends over the internet or across multiple devices. But if you’re all in the same room and have the right setup, you’re good to go.
What you will need to Play Together
To play with friends, you’ll need a separate controller for each person. This game doesn’t support a mix of touch controls and controllers. Everyone must have their compatible game controller connected to the Apple device. Make sure to check Apple’s compatibility list to see which controllers will work!
Joining a Game
Once everyone’s controller is connected, each player can join by pressing the appropriate button on their controller:

- Xbox controller: Press the Menu button
- DualShock controller: Press the Options button
- Other controllers: Press the button usually labeled Start
That’s it! Your character should pop into the game screen as either Player 2, 3, or 4!
Leaving a Game
If you need to drop out mid-run, you can hold:
- Y on an Xbox controller
- Triangle on a DualShock controller
Keep in mind that Player 1 acts as the host. If they leave, the entire dungeon run ends for everyone. So make sure the host is committed to seeing it through!
How to play Online or Multi-Device Co-op in Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon
For now, the developers aren’t working on online multiplayer or a way to play across several devices. They’re focused on other updates, so local co-op with multiple controllers on a single device is the only way to play together.
