The Version 3.4 update of Honkai: Star Rail has released a very popular, famed character from the Fate/Stay Night collab, the 5-star character Archer. He is a Quantum character following the Path of the Hunt. This Honkai: Star Rail Archer Build Guide will help you get the most out of his kit by offering a simplified breakdown of the gameplay and recommending the best configurations to optimize Archer’s performance.
Archer Gameplay
Archer is a Quantum Hunt unit who thrives on explosive skill-spam turns powered by high SP consumption and strong self-scaling. His main mechanic revolves around entering a special Circuit Connection state after using his skill, allowing him to keep acting and use up to five skills in one turn, each getting progressively stronger.
Archer is extremely SP-hungry, but in return, he delivers some of the highest single-target burst damage in the game. To help manage this SP drain, Archer’s Talent lets him perform follow-up attacks when allies attack, which both deal decent damage and restore 1 SP.

His ultimate is a massive single-target nuke that also provides 2 Charge, which fuels his follow-ups. Combined with precise SP planning, ally timing, and occasional use of his technique or passives (like the increased SP cap and pre-loaded Charge), Archer can build up to these massive “blowout” turns where he chains multiple skills, regens energy, and maintains his powerful buffs like a 120% CRIT DMG bonus when your SP pool is stocked.
Overall, Archer is a high-risk, high-reward carry whose burst windows feel incredibly satisfying when you align your team’s SP, buffs, and timing just right. He’s flexible in target selection, thrives in single-target content, and rewards skilled rotation management with some of the highest front-loaded damage output available to any Hunt unit.

Honkai Star Rail Archer Best Relics and Planar Ornaments
For main stats, go for CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG chest, ATK% boots, ATK or Quantum DMG orb (ATK is more common), and an ATK rope. Archer wants 2.5k–3.5k ATK, 100% CRIT Rate in combat, and then just stack CRIT DMG.

Stick to his base SPD most of the time unless you’re running a coordinated -1 SPD rotation with Sunday to maximize SP gain.
- Body: Crit Rate/Crit DMG
- Feet: ATK%
- Planar Spear: DMG%/ATK%
- Link Rope: ATK%
Relic Set
Genius of Brilliant Stars | The best relic set for him is the classic Genius of Brilliant Stars, since it provides Quantum DMG and DEF shred, both of which scale incredibly well with his damage output. |
Poet of Mourning Collapse | While Poet might seem tempting, Archer’s base SPD is just too high to fully benefit from its conditional bonus. |
Wavestrider Captain | Wavestrider can work if you’re ulting at the start of his turn, but that isn’t always optimal. |
Planar Ornaments
Rutilant Arena | For planar ornaments, Rutilant Arena is the ideal choice, since Archer’s main damage comes from his skills, and he naturally builds into high CRIT Rate. |
Inert Salsotto | Inert Salsotto is also viable if you’re leaning into ult-focused turns, but generally, Rutilant fits better with his consistent skill spam. |
Honkai Star Rail Archer Best Light Cone

The Hell Where Ideals Burn (Archer 5* Light Cone) | Archer’s signature Light Cone is a solid choice, offering 16% CRIT Rate and up to 80% ATK at full stacks, making it a strong stat stick designed specifically for his SP-hungry playstyle. The catch is that you need a 6+ SP cap to activate the permanent 40% ATK portion, which locks it to Archer- or Sparkle-based teams. That makes it less flexible overall, and while it synergizes well with his kit, it doesn’t offer any unique mechanics. |
Baptism of Pure Thought (5*) | If you have Ratio’s LC lying around, then it’s recommended that you use this on Archer. |
Cruising in the Stellar Sea (5*) | The Light Cone from the Herta store is still totally viable and competitive, but you’ll need to account for the non-permanent CRIT Rate boost, which can be annoying if you hate missing CRITs. |
Worrisome, Blissful (5*) | This one is good, but still needs to consider that the debuff is present on the desired target consistently, which is not always the case. |
See You at the End (4*) | The Battle Pass Light Cone is a good 4-Star option. It provides consistent damage. |
Only Silence Remains (4*) | A solid F2P option. |
Best Team Comps for Archer in Honkai Star Rail
Archer thrives in tightly constructed teams built around managing SP and enabling his skill-spamming turns.
Archer, Sparkle/Sunday, Tribbie/Silver Wolf, Gallagher
Main Support
Sparkle is his absolute best support, thanks to her high-speed cycling and unmatched SP generation, which lets Archer pull off his full five-skill rotations. When equipped with Sunday’s Light Cone, Sparkle can smooth out awkward SP breakpoints and push for rare two-turn ult rotations, a massive SP and damage gain for the team.

On the other hand, Sunday is also excellent and more accessible, while he doesn’t match Sparkle’s SP output, his buffs, advance-forward mechanics, and energy gifting allow Archer to rotate ultimates faster and stay aggressive. You can also run Hanya or Tingyun as F2P alternatives, offering SP generation and energy support in simpler team versions.
Second Support
For Archer’s second support slot, you’ll want someone who provides unique damage amps and can keep up with Archer’s tempo. Tribbie, Cipher, and Silver Wolf are his best partners here. Tribbie supplements his single-target focus with powerful AoE and Dance Dance Dance cycling, making her ideal for AoE content. Cipher stores damage and unleashes it during Archer’s downtimes while also being completely SP positive, great for smoother, more consistent rotations.
Silver Wolf, meanwhile, brings powerful single-target amps and Quantum Weakness implanting, pushing Archer’s damage through the roof when running the Quantum Genius set. If you’re lacking these, Remembrance MC is a strong free option for her True DMG buff, and Pela serves as a budget Silver Wolf with SP-positive DEF shred.
Sustains
For sustain, there’s no one better than Gallagher. His back-to-back turns, SP-positive healing, and synergy with Quid Pro Quo make him invaluable to both Archer and Sparkle teams. His turn frequency enables Sparkle’s ult cycle and helps the team constantly build SP.
While Luocha, Aventurine, and Hyacine can fill the role with basic attacks, Gallagher’s utility and SP economy make him the top choice by far. A premium team would be Archer, Sparkle, Tribbie/Cipher/Silver Wolf, and Gallagher. For a F2P-friendly version, you can run Archer with Hanya or Tingyun, and Gallagher once again proves he’s always ready to carry.
Is Archer worth pulling in HSR
It’s baffling how good Archer is despite being a free character. He is a high ceiling, single-target nukers who reward smart team building and rotation planning. Archer shines in Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow, where his big damage output can melt elites and bosses with the right setup.
While his SP-heavy playstyle demands careful resource management and support synergy, the payoff is huge. He’s not great for Pure Fiction, but in the main game modes, he’s arguably one of the best Hunt units, especially at E0. If you can build around him, Archer is worth it!
