- BMPS 2025 Grand Finals saw very less footfalls on the first two days.
- No announcements were made regarding the Esports roadma for the remaining of 2025.
- Fan-favorite teams failed to qualify for the Finals, which resulted low concurrent watching on YouTube.
Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI)‘s second official tournament of 2025 just concluded at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. The Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series (BMPS) 2025 Grand Finals was supposed to be the most coveted BGMI Esports tournament in recent times.
However, the expectations didn’t meet to declare it as a full-fledged success in terms of almost every measure. In this article, we will take a deeper look at the BMPS 2025 LAN Grand Finals and sort out the probable drawbacks that made the tournament not a successful one.
How the BMPS 2025 Grand Finals unfolded
At the very beginning of the tournament, i.e., the earlier rounds, things were pretty good. The audience was having fun, and the concurrent watching was also exorbitant. The announcement of an international slot in the Esports World Cup (EWC) also added extra spice.
But these all lasted till the conclusion of the Semi-finals week 2. After that, the downward spiral started, and things went south. Let’s look at the probable reasons:
Lack of footfall in the LAN played a crucial role
This year’s BMPS LAN Finals were one of those LANs where we witnessed a very low amount of footfall in the venue. Especially, on day 1, almost 80% of the area was vacant. We could even see it through various Esports influencer’s social media posts. One of the reasons for this incident was the absence of fan-favorite teams.
All the popular big names, such as iQOO SouL, Hero Xtreme GodLike, Revenant X-Spark, Orangutan Esports, etc. failed to qualify for the Grand Finals of BMPS. This proved to be one of the reasons why people didn’t feel like going to the venue as neutrals. However, on the final day, we saw some decent footfall.
No hype or proper promotion of the Tournament
After the conclusion of the Semi-finals, I didn’t find any proper marketing and hype-creating approach for the LAN Finals. In the last official tournament, which was the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS), we saw various initiatives by the tournament organizers to promote the tournament. This time, those were absent.
Several steps were taken, like putting hoardings in public places and posters on public transport, but I believe those were not enough. Even, Krafton added free passes of the tournament just before the finals but there were no such things when the ticket booking was started in the first place.
No announcement of a proper Roadmap or future possibilities made it more boring
Before the start of the Grand Finals, every one of us expected that we would be getting the much-awaited announcement of the roadmap for the remainder of the year. EWC also confirmed on its website that the winner of BMPS 2025 will go to Riyadh to represent India at the Esports World Cup (EWC).

We also thought that we would get that announcement in the LAN Finals. After all, we are getting an international slot after a very long time. However, none of these things happened. Only the Associate Director of Esports at Krafton India, Mr. Karan Pathak announced on his social media handle that the brand new franchise system tournament is coming along with the KIE Campus Tour for students.
Less concurrent Viewership
One of the major drawbacks of this year’s BMPS was the fall in concurrent watching on YouTube. Even in the group stage and semi-finals, where all the fan-favorite teams were present, we saw a massive live audience of almost 200,000, and the largest it went was approximately 270,000.
Things were the same even in the previous official tournaments, too. However, this time the scenario was different. Krafton India Esports, the YouTube channel on which BMPS was being streamed live, struggled to get a concurrent watching of even 100,000 in the first two days.
However, on the final day, the watching saw a great spike, and it was getting almost 150k-170k watching. I know it is still a massive number. But if I see it from BGMI’s perspective and compare it with the stature of the game, it’s pretty low.
Final Thoughts
I wouldn’t say BMPS 2025 was a total failure but as I examined and explained all the probable causes of the downward trajectory of this official tournament, I very much believe that Krafton and the tournament organizers could have done much better in terms of hyping the event up.
Although the EWC is coming and Team Aryans x TMG is going to play as Team India, the long-lost attraction of BGMI will come back, in my opinion. The new franchise tournament and the Campus Tour will also boost the ecosystem and strengthen the esports scene in India. Now, only time will tell how things go.
