As per the announcement from Niantic, Pokémon GO is headed to the 2025 Pokémon World Championships as the Pokémon Go World Championships 2025, taking place from August 15 to 17, 2025, in Anaheim, California. This is the fourth edition of this series, waiting to crown another champion this year.
The Championships were initially announced back in August 2024. And to celebrate the incorporation, the game is already rolling out events, celebrations, and many more. This article will provide you with the related information about the esports tournament.
Pokémon Go World Championships 2025: Schedule and Format
The event will kick off on the 15th of August 2025 and run for the next three days before it crowns the world champion team. However, on the very first day of the event, it will be double elimination battles until the top 32 remain.

The next day will see the same format until the grand finals. And then will be the final match, on the third day of the event. The remaining players will compete in the grand final against each other. Each match until the grand final will be best of three (BO3), while the grand final will be a best-of-five (BO5). After crowning the world champion, the event will close its doors on the 17th of August 2025.
Participating Teams
So far we know, there will be 32 teams on the very first day which will be drawn several times untill it reaches two the final two for the ultimate showdown in the grand finals. And after the grand finals, the winning participant will be crowned as the champion of the event.
Prize Pool
A total of $77,000 will be given to the participants based on their rankings. Here’s a breakdown of the prize pool for the contenders:
